Vision & Christian Ethos

Our Vision Statement:

1 Corinthians 13:13: “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love,” inspires the vision of Watford St John’s as a caring and inclusive school rooted in Christian values such as love, respect, courage, joy, and wisdom. Guided by the mission statement, “Growing Together in Love and Respect,” each child is nurtured as a unique individual, enabling them to flourish morally, socially, spiritually, and culturally.

Our vision is further shaped by the Parable of the Mustard Seed, the Good Samaritan, and the story of Daniel, which encourage growth, compassion, and resilience. Committed to high-quality education, the school improves life chances for all pupils. At the heart of a diverse community, it welcomes children of all faiths and backgrounds, fostering confidence, self-belief, and a strong sense of belonging so every child can thrive and contribute positively to society.

Here at Watford St John’s, we are one family, defined by our core Christian values of:

Growing Together, Thankfulness, Courage, Joy, Respect, Love, Forgiveness, Hope, Friendship, Peace and Wisdom.

We endeavour to spiritually develop all of our children and staff during their time at St John's. Through awe and wonder, we can find spiritual moments in all that we do: St John's Spirituality Statement

Each member of our school is seen as unique and all are enabled to flourish under God’s love and in His image. Our Mission Statement of ‘Growing Together in Love and Respect’ steers all that we do and the relationships we hold and enable every child to develop as a moral, social, spiritual and cultural human being.

The school provides a unique educational experience for children in Watford through its Christian ethos, its understanding of the needs of the community and the pupils. It is wholly committed to high quality education and the improvement of life chances for all.

St John’s is at the heart of a richly diverse community. The education and services we provide serve the whole community, valuing and making the most of its dynamic blend of ethnicity, languages, cultures and religions.

We welcome children from Christian families, from other faith and from no faith backgrounds. Every child, whatever their background, will be valued as a unique child of God, and will be enabled to grow in confidence and self-belief with the opportunity to reach for the skies.
