Watford St JOhn's Parents' Forum
The St John’s Church of England Primary School Parents’ Forum will take place online at least once a term . The forums are an opportunity for parents & carers to share ideas and views on our school with the School Leadership Team and School Governors.
The forum will be chaired by one of our Governors and a member of the school Senior Leadership Team (SLT). At times other members of the school community will also attend the meetings depending on the agenda items and what the school feels they would like to share with the parents & carers, such as new initiatives.
The most recent Online Parents' Forum took place on 10th December 2025. Miss Pyatt, Headteacher and Mrs Siggins, Deputy Headteacher shared an update of our progress against our Ofsted targets and celebrated our achievements with those who attended. They also spoke about the impact of our new curriculum, the training our teachers are receiving to consistently improve on assessment and how our children's progress is being monitored carefully.
Miss Siggins shared the news that our phonics progress continues to be on a positive pathway and how our achievement of 85% of children achieving the expected standard was above the national level at 80% (July 2025). Miss Pyatt confirmed that our Year 6 SATs assessments have been confirmed above national in children achieving the expected standard in the combined reading/writing/maths! We are so, so proud of our children and the staff who have worked so hard in the past and present to ensure our children make the best possible progress.
Updates on our EYFS include the following: the new team have settled the children incredibly well and the staff are constantly reflecting on their practice and ensuring the environment is updated to match the children's needs. We receive input from an EYFS consultant who is working closely with Ms Deepak to continue to develop the provision and the curriculum.
We also discussed ways to try to engage parents more. We are very pleased with the turnout at our children's events but would love to know what more we can do to ensure we all work together.
The next parent forum will be at the end of the Spring term.
